PHOTO TIPS ![]() Info@luminescencephotography.com (603) 553-7202 Photo Tips And List Of Terms And Services Below is some helpful tips and advice for creating wonderful wedding photographs and also a list of terms and services Formal Pictures ✭The one question I get it asked the most is, "how much time do we need to schedule for our formal pictures?" I believe to allow enough time to get good pictures and have some fun with it as well I suggest One Hour Minimum. One and half Hours is Ideal If you plan on traveling to a different location or multiple locations please add the travel time plus the One Hour minimum for you total time allowed for formal pictures. Example: Travel time is 15 minutes one way so total time needed for formal pictures is: 15 minutes + 15 minutes + 1 hour = 1 1/2 hours I like to spend at least Half an Hour of the time allowed on photographing just you two together. This allows us enough time to get a variety of different poses. Try to pick a location that has a variety of diffrent backgrounds This way you can cut down on travel time by staying in one location. Photo Coordinator ✭I Find it helps to appoint a family member or friend to help you locate people needed for pictures. Usually someone who is familiar with your family and friends is the best candidate. I will be arranging people in the pictures and setting up all the poses, and the photo coordinators job is to locate people who are needed to be in pictures. This allows me to spend more time arranging people, and taking pictures, and less time trying to locate the people that need to be in pictures. Pre-Ceremony Pictures ✭I Usually will arrive 2 hours before the ceremony. It helps to keep the room we will be taking preparation pictures in clutter free, and clean. Don't be afraid to decorate the room either. Putting up shear white curtains or some mood lighting with candles for example. I always take detail pictures of your dress, jewerly, rings, garter, and any other special items that you may have. For the dress try to hang it in a spot that will photograph well. Usually simple backgrounds that have no clutter or items near the dress works best. These pictures are usually b+w if that helps to envision the picture better. As for the special items I will taking photographs of usually a plain white background, black, or gray works best. Also a window sill looks lovely with the soft natural window light falling on the objects. If you have a window that is large enough to use for pictures please keep it clear of furniture and other objects so that we may use it take some window portraits. It also a good idea to have your flowers delivered to the room where you will be getting ready so we may use them in some of the pictures. Ceremony Pictures ✭At the ceremony there are a few things to consider. Please tell all your bridesmaids to walk slowly down the aisle. I know that nerves make people want to rush, but it makes it difficult to get good pictures if they race down the aisle. ✭If you are lighting a unity candle please try to preform the ceremony so I may see what you doing, and get good pictures of it. Most couples will stand directly in front of the candle blocking the whole event. This also makes it hard for your guests to see it as well. ✭When you exchange rings please practice doing this in a way where you are not covering each other hands from view of this part of the ceremony. I like to take close ups of the rings being placed on each others fingers, but if you cover it up then I will not be able to get those pictures. Reception Pictures ✭When shopping around for a reception site please consider the following. The ceiling of the reception site. Is it low and white, or is it a dark color, or dark wood. The ceiling of your reception site will effect the way your lighting comes out in your photographs. The lower the ceiling and brighter it is the better. Wedding photographers "Bounce" their light off of the ceiling to illuminate our subjects at the reception. If the ceiling is low and bright our flashes bounces off the ceiling and creates this this beautiful soft lighting look. I have found that Wedding Tents produce the most flattering light of any type of reception setting. Being in a tent for a photographer is like being inside a giant diffuser. It is wonderful lighting. If you pick a site with high ceiling then the light from our flash has to travel much farther before it reaches the ceiling and bounces back down to the subject. The light loses it strength and ends up loosing its soft bright lighting effect. If the ceiling is a dark color or a dark wood then it will absorb the flash and also take away from that soft diffused effect. ✭You may Also want to consider stringing up lights at your reception site. White Christmas lights look great, and so do paper lanterns, and light that are round. Tea lights and candle also add an element of elegance to the reception and make for some nice background lighting in pictures. ✭I have a certain picture that I try to take at every wedding reception. That is a photograph of the bride and groom during their first dance. The cake is one side of the picture and is in focus and you two are dancing in the background and you are soft and out of focus. When you meet with your coordinator for your reception site please ask them if they can place the cake table somewhere near the dance floor so I am able to get that particular picture for you. ✭When planning on what time to feed the photographer I feel it is best for me to eat somewhere near the beginning of diner. The reason is because if I eat last at the end of diner then I will not get a chance to finish. Since most of the time right after diner you two would usually cut the cake or do a special dance. Unless you have no event planned for right after diner then I may eat anytime during diner. ✭I like to take the two of you outside either during sunset, or at night to do some additional portraits of the both of you together. This usually only takes about 15 minutes. Please plan on taking this time to get these pictures.
